The world’s entire population of critically endangered mountain gorillas lives only in the forests of the Virunga Massif and Bwindi, spanning the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda, and Rwanda.

Virunga National Park protects around a third of this population, living in the dense forests on the slopes of Mount Mikeno.
